Frequently Asked Questions

Why did you train in physiotherapy?

Growing up I always thought I would be an Engineer - I have always found the mechanics, force levers and functional and structural side of things fascinating. Having been in sport most of my youth I found myself seeing a physiotherapist when I was 16 and he really inspired me when he explained WHY I had the pain and how I needed to change and adjust my loading to optimise the function. It was at that point that I found myself attracted to the idea of physiotherapy - why design something new when I could figure out how to optimise what we already had?

What is your style of practice?

My style of treatment varies according to the condition at hand. I am predominantly a hands on Physiotherapist and utilise Dry needling, soft tissue and joint mobilisations to assist in offloading the tissues while providing specific exercises to help you to maintain these changes long term. In some cases my treatment may weigh more to exercise and others to education. There is no one style that works for all and so I tend to be adaptable in my approaches.

Overall I would say I tend to work on the firmer side of life and am known to take little mercy!

What is your favourite type of patient?

I enjoy working with young adults right through to those that are more mature in years. Each age group comes with its own joys. Having had a background in spinal clinics I do gravitate towards an natural love of spinal and shoulder conditions.

What will we find you doing outside of the clinic?

I enjoy a vast variety of activities. Anything from building a puzzle of a beautifully wet day to exploring the Welsh countryside hiking and camping. Although I am not always consistent in doing so I do enjoy going to the gym, rock climbing and sailing!
