As the body heals following injury, surgery, burns or trauma scar tissue forms. This scar tissue is fibrous, less functional and less mobile than normal tissue. Also adhesions can develop within the scar tissue. These cause layers of fascia to stick together, reducing mobility and causing pain and tightness.
RESTORE scar therapy can help care for the scar and improve mobility as well as reduce pain, sensitivity and numbness. It can also reduce pulling and puckering in the scar itself.
Any patients who have had any form of surgery – both planned and emergency surgery. Also patients who have suffered scars as a result of burns.
Scars that can be treated include those from surgery for: C-section, hip and knee replacements, mastectomy, other abdominal surgeries
Treatment can start from 8 weeks post surgery as long as the scar is healing well and the GP/Consultant is happy with progress. Treatment is also effective in older scars.
